Living on Cash
When we talk about getting out of debt and staying out of debt, most people agree that it is a major first step in securing your financial picture. When we say living on cash, we do not mean keeping large amounts of cash in a rubber band. Rather, you pay your expenses with cash that you have accumulated over time with the use of a debit card. It is very rare that a place will not accept a debit card. At worst they require a minimum purchase.
Living on cash reigns in your spending. It forces you to look at your overall picture and make adjustments. Once you make these sometimes uncomfortable adjustments, you will find that it will increase your peace of mind. An interesting byproduct of living on cash is that it will make you more creative. We had a customer who told us that she could not afford to have a birthday party for her four year old daughter. She had just lost her high paying job due to downsizing and was depending on her husband's income.
After asking more questions we realized that it was possible to still have a party if she avoided going out to a Chuck E. Cheese's (a popular kid party destination). When we told her to bake a cake instead of buying one she agreed that was smart. Then we told her to have her close family members each bring one food item. After that point, she took over the conversation and had to go. She had work to do for the party.
The point is that life still continues when you live on cash. Some changes do need to be made but the feeling of security is well worth it.

I didn’t think it was possible to cut my debt by over half. The stress of the phone calls and loss of credit was causing my blood pressure to skyrocket. Now, I feel much more relaxed and know I am on the plan to success. Thank you Practical Debt Relief.
